Most installed fences cost $20 to $60 per linear foot in 2026, which puts a 150-foot yard at $3,000 to $9,000. Those are national figures. We do not post a Cleveland price list. Your yard sets the price: how long and how tall the fence is, how many gates, what must be removed and how hard the clay is to dig.
These price ranges are national figures published by HomeGuide for 2026. They are not our quotes. Labor and material prices in Northeast Ohio and the conditions in your yard move the number up or down. Last checked October 2026.

How much does a 6-foot wood privacy fence cost?
The national range for a 6-foot privacy fence is $25 to $60 per foot installed. The table below shows totals by length for an ordinary fence at $20 to $60 per foot. A 6-foot privacy fence has more boards and bigger posts than a low fence, so look toward the top of each row.
| Fence length | Typical installed cost |
|---|---|
| 50 feet | $1,000 to $3,000 |
| 100 feet | $2,000 to $6,000 |
| 150 feet | $3,000 to $9,000 |
| 200 feet | $4,000 to $12,000 |
What is the cheapest fence to have installed?
Chain link is the cheapest, starting near $9 per foot nationally. For privacy at the lowest cost, pressure-treated pine with dog-ear boards is the usual answer. For keeping a large dog in the yard on a budget, chain link at 5 or 6 feet does the job where your city allows that height. Front yards are a different matter. Cleveland allows only ornamental fence in a front yard unless the Board of Zoning Appeals approves chain link, Cleveland Heights bars chain link from front yards, and South Euclid sends every chain link fence to its Architectural Review Board. We check before we quote it.
Is black aluminum cheaper than wrought iron or vinyl?
Aluminum is cheaper than wrought iron: $25 to $75 per foot compared with $50 to $85. It overlaps with vinyl at $30 to $60. Aluminum has one clear advantage on a Cleveland street. It cannot rust, and the strip by the sidewalk is salted from November to March.
How much extra does a gate cost?
Each gate is priced on its own, by width, material and hardware. A walk gate adds the least. A double gate across a driveway adds more, because the posts are heavier and the footings deeper, and an automatic opener is a further cost. You will see every gate as a separate line on our quote.
How much extra for a slope, brush or an old fence?
We can only price that after seeing it. The extras we meet most in Cleveland are removing old chain link and its concrete footings, clearing vines and saplings that have grown through a back fence, hand digging along a shared driveway where no machine fits, and breaking through old brick or concrete under the lawn. East side yards that drop toward a ravine add stepping or racking.
I got three quotes and they are far apart. Which one is realistic?
The realistic quote is the one that leaves nothing out. Lay them next to each other and check footage, height, grade of material, post size, post depth, number of gates, tear-out, haul-away and permit. Post depth deserves the closest look in Northeast Ohio. Shallow holes are quick and cheap to dig, and they are the reason fences here lean after a few winters. Two quotes with different hole depths are for two different fences.
Does a fence add value to my home?
A straight, good-looking fence helps a house sell, above all to buyers with a dog or small children. It rarely returns its whole cost in the sale price. Whether it changes your tax value is up to the county, which sets property values.
The only real price is one measured in your yard. The estimate is free and comes in writing. Call (216) 238-3677 or text us a photo of the fence line.
